Constellations!

NEUROMANCERS’ Constellations are our anti-carceral, sliding-scale Peer Solidarity groups. All groups are hosted on our NEUROVERSE Discord server where you can chat with others 24/7. Below you can book our frequent online meet-ups.

Much like the stars in constellations, we aim to connect with each other across space and time!

Within our various Constellations, we aim to…

  • Build spaces of intimacy, knowledge, and autonomy

  • Establish goals and boundaries

  • Encourage collective education

  • Support each other

  • Celebrate our complexities and differences

FAQs

  • NEUROMANCERS is a community organisation and radical magazine, for and by neurodivergent people. Learn more about us here.

Constellations are our anti-carceral, sliding-scale Peer Solidarity groups. Peer Solidarity (coined by Aiyana Goodfellow) is an elevated form of peer support which combines political education with community healing.

As of 2024, we have ten (10) different groups offering support that is tailored to different parts of the wider mad, mentally ill, neurodivergent, and disabled (MMIND) community.

It is important to note that Constellations – and any offerings from NEUROMANCERS – are not therapy. By joining NEUROMANCERS’ group events, you are agreeing to our terms.

  • NEUROMANCERS is a community organisation and radical magazine, for and by neurodivergent people. Learn more about us here.

As an organisation, all our offerings are dedicated to and aimed at the mad, mentally ill, neurodivergent, and disabled (MMIND) community. Each Constellation is tailored to different parts of the wider community. For example, Multi-Dimensional Minds is a space for people who experience or have experienced multiple or distinct senses of reality. On the other hand, Neuroqueers is a space for all those who identify as both LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent.

You do not need a formal/medical diagnosis or be ‘out’ to join any of our spaces. We welcome those who are questioning their identities and exploring their experiences.

  • All Constellations are led by members of the NEUROMANCERS Core Team who have ‘lived-experience’ with the topic of the Constellation. Meet the team.

  • All our groups are hosted on our NEUROVERSE Discord server, which is open 24/7. This means all our Constellations have their own Discord channel where you can chat with others from around the world who share your experiences.

You can also book our online sessions. Our Constellation sessions are available to attend in ‘blocks’. Each block lasts six (6) weeks, with one session per Constellation per week. Different blocks include different Constellations and some will occur throughout the year more than once. Scroll down to see more information and book!

  • Our Constellation sessions are available to attend in ‘blocks’. Each block lasts six (6) weeks, with one session per Constellation per week. Different blocks include different Constellations and some will occur throughout the year more than once. You can attend as many or as few Constellations within a block as you like!

You must book before the first week of a block to ensure your place. Constellations are not drop-in spaces: you must commit to most or all of the six (6) sessions. Scroll down to see more information and book!

  • In line with our accessibility statements, we offer sliding-scale tickets for all Constellation sessions, with free spaces for Black people. We ask and expect middle class, financially privileged and white people to engage in personal reparations: choose our higher tier options to redistribute your wealth.

All funds go towards our Solar Survival Support (mutual aid) projects.

Each ticket gives you access to all six (6) sessions within this Constellation. These are not drop-in spaces: you must commit to most or all of the sessions.

    Sliding-Scale:

    • Free for Black People

    • Tier One: £15 (£2.50 per session)

    • Tier Two: £30 (£5 per session)

    • Tier Three: £60 (£10 per session)

    • Tier Four: £60+ (pay what you can)

Spaces will fill quickly and each tier is limited, so book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Whilst some Constellations will occur throughout the year more than once, most will only happen once. Scroll down to see more information and book!

Block One!

Block One lasts from April to May 2024. See below for information about each Constellation and find the link to book your spot.

  • This Constellation offers a space for multiply marginalized neurodivergent people (14+) to examine our struggles on personal and systemic levels as we discuss ways to apply our lived experiences towards building meaningful community.

Meetings will begin with an anecdote from the facilitators to set the tone of the space and then attendees will have the optional opportunity to share their own experiences. We’ll make connections to the greater systemic -isms and -obias that contribute to our challenges and support each other in coming up with ways to resist erasure, invalidation, and oppression through individual empowerment and collective organising.

  • The Multi-Dimensional Minds Constellation is designed to hold space for conversations among people who have experience with psychosis, altered consciousness, schizophrenia-spectrum symptoms, and other forms of beyond “ordered” thoughts. This constellation is for participants to explore our experiences in a non-judgemental place.

In our sessions we aim to address a variety of aspects of living with these experiences and create an environment of solidarity. We will set aside time at the end of each session to aid in the transition out of this community space.

  • This is a Constellation for caregivers (16+) who also identify as neurodivergent. Caregivers can be parents or relatives, chosen family or partners, paid or unpaid – anyone involved in mutual care work. We recognise the diverse realities of caregiving, including its challenges, and its rewards so will discuss tips, strategies, and coping mechanisms to help each other navigate barriers and state systems of support.

Neurodivergent Caregivers hopes to provide a community space where we can share the adventure of caregiving and to affirm that we are not alone in this work.

  • Neuroqueers is a Constellation for queer neurodivergents (14+) to be gay, build community and do *alleged* crime...by crime we mean anti-colonial, anti-patriarchal gender expression, radical explorations of sexuality, and care-filled community building. The things that the state does not encourage or want us to do. Madness and neurodivergency has always been connected to queerness through shared criminalisation and pathologisation.

We are grounded in an anti-colonial understanding of queerness and neurodivergency and/or Madness.

Block Two!

Block Two lasts from June to July 2024. See below for information about each Constellation. Available to book in May.

  • The Disorderlies is a welcoming space for those (16+) who have ‘pathologised personalities’, whether formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed, exploring the possibility of rejecting the diagnosis. If you previously identify with this but no longer do, you are also welcome here.

  • This is a peer led, trauma informed, supportive space for folks (14+) who have experienced harm or trauma from the MHIC (mental health industrial complex) and/or psychiatry and those who identify as Psychiatric Survivors.

In this space we all have lived experience, which we utilise to create community and educate one another. Each session has a theme, and we explore these together as a community.

  • This is a healing space(ship) for people (16+) who have experienced sexual harm in its many forms. It is a place to speak and listen; to believe and be believed. We might share stories, listen, bear witness, validate, and explore our needs.

Anyone is welcome who are Survivors of sexual harm, violence, abuse, or harassment. If the term 'Survivor' does not fully resonate, but you have still experience/d harm and would like to be in a supportive and affirming space, please join us.

This is a peer-led space, meaning we all have lived experience as Survivors, which we utilise to be in community and support one another.

Block Three!

Block Three lasts from August to September 2024. See below for information about each Constellation. Available to book in June.

  • Space Cadets is a trauma sensitive peer support group for people (16+) who experience dissociation, including plurality in its vast and varied ways. It is a place where we can explore our experiences from a non-pathological lens and be in solidarity with one another.

The group is an experimental space with an open format where we can coexist, mutually support each other from peer to peer, share experiences and discuss ways to cope with and navigate our dissociation. We will explore how our experiences can be viewed differently from what the MHIC/professionals view them to be; where can we find value, meaning and depth to the way we experience the world, and in what ways we can find grounding and rooting, on our own terms and when feels safe. Anyone who experiences dissociation in any form is welcome, as well as anyone questioning whether they experience dissociation.

  • This is a Constellation for neurodivegent folks (18+) who identify with addiction and who want to explore their relationship with drugs in a non judgmental space.

In this group we acknowledge the many nuances within drug use, addiction, and recovery and hold space for a multitude of experiences. This group emphasises harm reduction principles and therefore does NOT require one to be abstinent from drug use in order to attend. This is a peer led space meaning that we all have lived experience which we utilise to create community and educate one another.

Note: This space is not for those who need crisis care and is not acute long term care.

  • This group is a welcoming and safer space for beings with lived experiences of contemplating suicide and suicidal ideation/thoughts. We hope to explore our relationships with mortality, surviving oppressive systems, deathly and life-giving happenings. We do not aim to impose nor declare a definition of suicidality and encourage participants to consider their unique relationships to it.

This group is open to all faiths, spirituality, atheism, and different understandings of belief. We are rooted in mad liberation and abolitionist praxis. We seek to build connection and understanding in our group, while exploring the relationships we have with life/death and the types of boundaries that exist between them. We aim to widen our perspectives on death, subverting and complicating western narratives and other common framings of suicidality.
